Another year has come and gone.
What accomplishments did you have in your writing last year?
Did you obtain a great contract with a big publisher?
Did you get on the best seller list?
Maybe not.
But, I bet you made smaller accomplishments.
These small accomplishments add up.
They are important and keep us on our path to being published.
If you didn't give up, you made a very important accomplishment.
What do you want to accomplish this year?
One year I made a resolution to submit at least once a month. And, you know what, I did.
Your stories can't get accepted if you don't send them out. I sent out submissions last year in February, March, April, May, June and September.
So far, I have received 3 rejections. But, I also placed first and second in a contest.
Want to join me?
They could be submissions to magazines, book publishers, contests, etc.
Let's start the year out right by getting our manuscripts out into the world.
But --- make sure your manuscripts are ready. More on that later.
If you don't give up, you have taken the first step to being published!
Happy Writing.
Janet, I LOVE your upbeat, can do sense of purpose and celebration of the writing life. My goal for the year is to complete a draft of my novel and get it in shape for submission.
ReplyDeleteHi, Clara. Good luck on your new novel. I am sure you will succeed.
DeleteThanks for your confidence, Janet! :-)
DeleteGreat way to think of the new year. I complete lots of work last year and will keep moving ahead in 2016. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHi, Stacy. Keep on moving and good luck.
DeleteI like what you have in mind. Yes, I also intend to send out submissions at least once a month. Thanks for the kick in the pants! Happy New Year to you and good luck on your submissions.
ReplyDeleteThank, Rosi. Good luck to you.
DeleteGood advice, Janet. Congratulations on your contest results. That's encouraging. Keep sending the stories out. Someone is waiting for them.
ReplyDeleteI hope to submit two manuscripts this year. Three maybe. They're longer stories so can't do one a month. Best of luck to you. Happy 2016.
Thanks, Beverly. And, good luck to you with your submissions.
DeleteThis is so true! If we don't keep trying and sending out our work then it can't be picked up. Every step, no matter how small, is a step in the right direction. Love your positive attitude and determination! Great way to start 2016. :)
