Using Create Space
I have been working on a book for children that includes my articles I've published in Two-Lane Livin' magazine.
I am separating it by months instead of chapters.
Each month starts with a poem and has articles, easy recipes and crafts and sometimes a story, depending on what I had written about that particular month.
It is coming right along. I want to publish it with Create Space. At the moment Create Space is very confusing to me. I am hoping to figure it all out.
I am including clip art and I finally figured out how to make all the clip art be 300 DPI, which is what they want for all pics. That is one obstacle out of the way!
I downloaded Gimp, which is free. I went to this short tutorial on You Tube and found out how to convert pictures to 300 DPI. It is very easy! If I can figure it out, anyone can.
Have any of you used Create Space to publish your manuscripts?
Thanks for any input, suggestions or helpful hints on using their site.

Hi Janet. A few months ago, I'd decided to self-publish with Create Space...(but I haven't as of yet.) I agree it's confusing in the beginning, with all their different price ranges and "packages" of what they will and won't do, etc. I decided the easiest and least expensive way for me to use it was to find a writer/friend who is willing to help do the "hard parts" either for a small fee or free...and not pay Create Space their huge fees. (I also came across a helpful "How To" blog post a few months ago. If I can find it again, I'll send it to you!)

ReplyDeleteThanks, Becky. I would appreciate that link! I would feel more comfortable sitting down with someone who has did it before, too, and have them guide me through it. I am one of those who learns my having someone show me how to do something rather than reading how to do it. :o)
DeleteHi Janet. I just realized my comment posted twice, so I deleted the second one! I learn best the same way as you, and it's much more fun that way, too! :)
ReplyDeleteI'll have to find that article about Create Space....I'll look this weekend.

DeleteHi Janet,
ReplyDeleteI haven't used Create Space, so I can't offer any advice, but I can wish you good luck with your project -- and congratulations on your Chicken Soup book win.
