My Writing Workspace

I do not have an office. I do not have a regular desk or a computer desk.

But I have 'my space.' Which is all I need to write.

Below is my old enamel top wooden desk:

This desk holds my laptop, my file folders for ideas, manuscripts, call outs and contests, tips for writing PBs and MGs, etc., my notepad, my books, etc. The pictures and mouse pad provide me with 'childlike' inspiration. There is a fold out poster stored beside of my desk for picture book brainstorming.

I just recently added this corkboard:

I will thumb tack my ideas on this during the month of November!
It currently has six new ideas posted on it!

I think this will work much better than keeping them in a folder or notebook. They will be in full  view at all times.  I will continue to keep my ideas there - whether they be ideas for PBs, columns or MGs even after PiBoIdMo is over.

What does your workspace look like? How many ideas have you came up with this month?

  1. Janet, I love your workspace! It doesn't matter you call your desk...(computer, regular)..It is beautiful! You should see where I'm writing at the moment! We downsized this past April and moved into a townhouse, which I just love. It has plenty of space, and the two bedrooms are BIG. So, I'm in the spare bedroom....and I would show photos except for the fact it is still a cluttered mess! Did I just admit that?? This was like a huge walk-in closet, where things we didn't know what to do with, got put...But, I've begun working on it every day and soon it will be lovely! :)
I'm sorry, I didn't intend for this to be so long. One more thing...your idea about pinning your ideas to the board is much better (in my opinion) than in folders, too...because if you're at all like me....Out of sight, Out of mind! Have a wonderful day.

  3. It's a desk....but you can't always tell because of the clutter...lol....Actually, it's looking better these days since starting PiBoIdMo! I'm trying to get organized....and find time! That's the most important thing. I'm trying to figure out how to juggle writing time with everything else!!

    1. Hi, thanks for your comment. Mine stays pretty cluttered, too. My desk will be organized one day and the next it's a mess.

  6. Janet I like your enamel topped table as a desk. Actually I believe they have quite a roomy top. I just moved and sold my 6 foot harvest table that I used for my desk. I miss it like a right arm. I could put so much on the table and it always looked fairly organized. Now I have a tiny little table that is totally unsuitable. Am looking for something larger. -- barbara

  9. Your work space looks great! Mine looks similar! Having a cork board is so helpful. I like being able to see my ideas and I also have items on my desk that are near and dear to my heart. :) Happy Writing!
